The international conference "Translating Western Knowledge into Late Imperial China" is organized by the research project Wissenschaftssprache Chinesisch (WSC) or Studies in the Formation of Modern Chinese Scientific Terminologies under the direction of Prof. Michael Lackner and is made possible through a generous grant from the Volkswagen Foundation. The conference will take place from 6-9 December 1999 in the seminar rooms of the Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen, Platz der Göttinger Sieben 1, D-37073 Göttingen, Germany. Conference languages will be English and Chinese.
